Medical – An Overview

The MEDICAL field is one of the best, reputed and respected professional fields in India and abroad. If you possess a mind that bends scientifically and if you would like to serve HUMANITY, then MEDICAL is your right choice! Medical is otherwise called as Medicine & Health Sciences. You know, when we talk about Medical, an image of MBBS rises in our mind. It is NOT so!! Because, there are various courses other than MBBS in the Medical field. However, MBBS is mostly preferred by the students.

The Origin of Medicine :

At this modern age it’s very easy to get treated for a disease. And there are so many disruptive medical revolutions in the recent times. So, how did we get ourselves evolved in Medicine? What is the origin of Medicine? It is actually suspected that, at first, early humans did not think of diseases at all. They thought it’s a part of natural existence or it’s because of God’s curse, and hence there was no need to treat a disease. In fact, when early humans were affected by diarrhoea and eventually when they fell sick during the western civilization, the westerners told them that it wasn’t perfectly normal, it is NOT a part of natural existence and it was not because of GOD either. It was due to PARASITES! So, as a result of fear of dying, Medicine evolved gradually through Indian Vedas, herbs, roots, Chinese & Egyptian texts, Witch Doctors and now Medicine as it is seen today!

What Are a Doctor's Job Duties?

1."Assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, ranging from broken bones to more exotic illnesses"
2."Prescribe and administer treatment to injury victims"
3."Provide follow-up care of patients, referrals, and laboratory results"
4."Provide supervision to physician assistants and nurse practitioners"

Medical is the field of health and healing. It includes nurses, doctors, and various specialists. It covers diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, medical research, and many other aspects of health.

Eligibility & Admission Procedures :

The minimum eligibility for any of the UG courses in Medical is 10+2 with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. English is also a mandatory subject for eligibility in many of the Universities and Colleges. Please also note, candidate must complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December in order to be eligible to apply for any Medical course

NOTE : Students seeking Medical admissions in the state of Karnataka should know that all the medical seats are alotted through the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) & is mandatory to follow the rules of KEA.

Entrance Exam

1. NEET – UG (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Exam)

NOTE: Students has to qualify this NEET exam in order to secure a medical admission in India.

Just Before you take up Medical as your career :

one important point to remember is that students who wanted to study Medicine in abroad Universities like U.S or Australia, once they complete their course and if they return back to India either to do higher studies or to open a Clinic or to work in a Hospital, they MUST clear a test called MCI screening test. Only if they clear this test, they can proceed further.
